Sunflower Softball League to Take Break in 2023

WICHITA, Kan. — It is with great sadness we announce there will not be a Sunflower Softball League during the summer of 2023. Our registration numbers were very low for this summer with only 13 players signed up. Therefore, we have made the difficult decision to take this summer off and see what the next year brings. We hope to determine if there is a need, and/or a want for the SSL to continue during this hiatus.

OUR WHY

We would like to see more opportunities for women sports in our area, and feel that providing a summer collegiate softball league would be a great place to start.  This area, and the United States for that matter, has been saturated with summer college baseball, yet there are just a few summer college softball leagues at this time.

The Sunflower Softball League (SSL) is a non-profit 501(c)3 summer collegiate softball league, that will bring nearly 100 college student-athletes from across the country to South Central Kansas each summer.  During our inaugural season in the summer of 2022, we will play games in Goddard, Valley Center, and Wichita.

ABOUT US

Working together as a league, and not just as individual teams, our goal is to provide a cost-effective opportunity for college softball players from across the U.S.A. to come to communities in Kansas and play summer softball.

Our founding board has more than 40 years of fastpitch softball experience, more than 40 years of summer collegiate baseball experience and an interest to provide women student-athletes with an opportunity to not only become better softball players, but also become better young women.  There's no better place than Kansas to accomplish this!
